How do you use PS3 memory card adapter?

I bought one, and played MGS3 on the PS3 and when I tried to save it said there was no memory card. I had the ps3 memory card in the adapter and the adapter connected to the ps3. What else do I need to do???? Thanks!

You create a virtual memory card on the playstation 3 and copy save data from the memory card that you plug into the adapter.

You don’t actually need the memory card adapter to save ps2 games, you just need it to copy PS2 Memory cards to the playstation 3’s hard drive.
